Here's another amazing deal on a modern Ferrari. This time it's a 1999 Ferrari 355 GTB with less than 20k miles on the odometer. It's red with tan interior (THE color for a Ferrari in my opinion) and has some nice extras. Sounds like it's been well taken care of too.

Here are some more details:

This 1999 Ferrari 355 GTB has the amazing F-1 transmission. This is the best of both worlds. On open roads you can use the paddle-shift or if you get stuck in traffic of are just tired – you can push a button and the car instantly becomes a fully automatic car and your hands are free.

This car has… No smells or odors (smells new). No. Leaks. No. Squeaks. No smoke. No rattles. No weird sounds anywhere. The paint looks 10-feet-deep and has not a scratch anywhere. The paint is all original and mint. This car never saw the rain or snow and is only driven on picturesque days. The car shifts flawlessly in Auto and F-1 paddle-manual. No loose gears. This final-year 355GTB is just an utterly-gorgeous specimen that's showroom perfect exterior is matched with a perfectly clean interior. I just cleaned it myself. This car also comes with 1. Ferrari's 355 car cover. 2. A large Ferrari Tool Set with spare light bulbs and more. 3. 10-Disc CD Player (of course it's the original Ferrari branded system) 4. All books. 5. 2 Key sets. 6. And some misc Ferrari items like their flashlight.

This 1999 Ferrari 360 Modena has a starting bid of only $38,000 on eBay. There's a reserve, but many of these 360's are going for screaming deals in the $60k and $70k range. When I first started watching these (just before the economy started tanking), it was tough to find any for under $100k.

This one would need a little TLC, but it's still got lots of life in it. It's a bit higher on the mileage scale with 75,500 miles, but the seller is promising a full belt service as part of the sale. This would be a great driving car you wouldn't have to worry about babying. Here's some info from the auction:

Chrome wheels, Tubi exhaust, Red calipers. Needs work on the front bumper. Front bumper is scuffed beyond repair underneath, needs new front bumper. (From steep driveways only) Driver's side leather seat upper sides parts need repair. Last 60k miles driven in Southern California. This car was serviced well by an independent and driven often. Needs new headliner. Purchase price will include new timing belt and complete service before delivery. Engine, transmission and suspension are still in excellent condition. Paint nicks and all over the front from driving on the highways. This car was virtually problem-free. Except for a few ignition coils that went out when I washed the engine. I found out that the housings crack over time and water enters and ruins them. No check engine light, no smoke, passes smog check every time. (the '99 has a special procedure, of course) The 1999 360 has only two catalytic converters and no secondary air injection system.

Unfortunately the car is not really a Ferrari. It's a replica…an MG with a fiberglass Ferrari body. Still a gorgeous looking car from an iconic 80's movie. The car is expected to go for between $40,000 and $54,000 according to the online catalog on Bonham's site. It's listed by the current owner, a Ferrari collector, as "ready to drive."

Funny, Matthew Broderick, the actor who played Ferris in the movie, told New York Magazine he wouldn't even bid $1 on the car. His memory of the car is all the problems they had with getting it to start and poor reliability.

Still, even with the problems, this would be a heck of a cool car for anyone into movies in the 80's. Be a bargain at $40k.

I ran across this Ferrari 360 today on a site called E-ZSalvage.com. This is a heck of a deal on a car that doesn't appear to have any damage. It's a red 2003 Ferrari 360 Coupe with just over 10k miles on it. The description indicates it's a salvage title, but lists damage type as Normal Wear. It has secondary damage listed as Previous Repair. No idea what that means, but if this ran and didn't have any body work to be done, you'd have a heck of a car for $41,900, which is the current top offer. Even if you had to put $10k or $20k into it, you'd still be way under book value even given the salvage title.

All I can say is Holy CRAP!!! This 1990 Ferrari 348 ts just sold for $26,100 on eBay. That's a car that less than 2 years ago was commanding nearly $50k! And will easily be back up in the $40k to $45k range in the next couple of years.

This particular example had 43,041 miles on it and had just had the major 30k service done (I priced it out at my local Ferrari dealership at $11k). Everything looked good on the car except an issue with the transmission. Even with that, you'll still be in the car less than $30k at worst.

This is one heck of a Bargain Exotic.

The New York Times recently reported some of the bizarre "clunkers" people turned in as part of the Cash For Clunkers program that ran this summer. My personal fear was that various Porsche models were going to be part of the program (which Porsche 944s were unfortunately). The craziest of the cars mentioned was a 1997 Bentley Continental R that sold new for $250,000. It's owner turned it in for a $3,500 or $4,500 credit!

The question on everyone's mind is was the car REALLY only worth $4,500? One Bentley enthusiast mentioned the seats alone would be worth more that. Crazy that the dealer didn't just buy it outright from the seller.

Other cars on the exotic or desirable list that got the crunch were:

1997 Aston Martin DB7 Volante
1988 Aurora Cars Ltd. (Shelby cobra replica)
1992 BMW 850i
1987 Buick GNX 1987
1987 Excalibur Autos Phaeton
1990 Laforza
1985 Maserati Quattroporte
1999 Mercedes C43 AMG
1992 GMC Typhoon
2006 Roush Stage 3 F-150

Some great exotics on that list. Sad to see them go.

Only the world's fastest limousine!

Dan Cawley who lives in the U.K. decided to stretch his Ferrari 360 Modena. The car is now 20 feet long and can scoot on up to 166 mph. I wonder what the ride is like at that speed?

The only problem is Ferrari corp is upset. They sent a letter to Cawley demanding he remove the Ferrari names and "360 Modena" badging from the car. They claim that since he grafted in the 9.5 foot section of hand-built carbon fiber to stretch the car, that it's no longer a Ferrari.

Doesn't it seem kind of crazy that a company you bought a car from can tell you what to do with the car?! It's not like there's going to be a rush of people going out to chop up their Ferraris as a result.

This is a 2000 Ferrari 360 in silver listed on eBay. A Buy It Now price of $79,900. Only 25k miles and a relatively recent service. The owner has already done a Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) on the car. Sure it's not the sexiest color for a Ferrari, but this is a car regularly listed for $100k+ on eBay. I'm guessing you could save at least another $5k or so through the Make Offer option.

Scent of a Woman anyone? Such a great scene in that movie when they're blasting through the streets with Charlie navigating. I found this on Portland.Craigslist.org. Red with tan leather. 73,000 miles. It's listed for $32,000, but I bet you could talk him down under $30k without too much trouble.
